5th House Book Club
A collaborative, interactive 4-week book club to discuss the groundreaking "Come as you are" by Emily Nagoski.
Time & Location
16 Feb 2022, 20:00 – 21:30 GMT
About the event
Come as you are: An essential exploration of why and how women’s sexuality works — based on groundbreaking research and brain science — that will radically transform your sex life into one filled with confidence and joy.
Book Club will take place on Zoom and will run for 90 mins.
For the first 60 mins we will discuss our thoughts and feelings about what we have read, in response to questions and prompts designed to facilitate exploration (feel free to bring your own questions along too!) After this, the last 30 mins will be an optional space for the discussion to overflow, and an opportunity to socialise and get to know the other book club members a little better.
We will meet on Wednesday evenings through Feb @ 19:00 GMT - something to look forward to in the darkest month of the year! You're welcome to join with a glass of wine, or a mug of hot chocolate, and blankets and cosy clothes are encouraged.
We will break the book down as follows:
- 2nd Feb - part 1: the not so basic basics (ch. 1-3)
- 9th Feb - part 2: sex in context (ch. 4 + 5)
- 16th Feb - part 3: sex in action (ch. 6+7)
- 23rd Feb - part 4: ecstasy for everybody (ch. 8 +9)
* In order for everyone to get the most out of the club, it is important that the reading is completed before we meet. Please consider this before signing up! *
You'll also need access to a copy of the book - e-book, audiobook, paper copy, your own or borrowed!
While "Come as you are" is a book predominantly about female sexuality our book club is open to anyone interested. But, to hep us facilitate a safe space for discussion, and to allow members to get to know one another, places will be limited to 12 people.
More about "Come as you are" from Goodreads
Cutting-edge research across multiple disciplines tells us that the most important factor for women in creating and sustaining a fulfilling sex life, is not what you do in bed or how you do it, but how you feel about it. Which means that stress, mood, trust, and body image are not peripheral factors in a woman’s sexual wellbeing; they are central to it. Once you understand these factors, and how to influence them, you can create for yourself better sex and more profound pleasure than you ever thought possible.
"Come as you are" aims to do just that, and we can't wait to jump in with you!
